One of the best KL-style “chee cheong fun” I’d ever tasted was from this anonymous stall located in front of 71-73 Jalan Hujan Emas 8, Overseas Union Garden, off Old Klang Road.
Ah Choon, as he’s known to his customers, has been operating at this spot for the past 25 years.
KL-style chee cheong fun uses a tasty “tau cheo”-based beansauce which differs from Ipoh or Melaka-style (which use the sweet “hoi sin”-based sauce) or Penang & Singapore-style (which uses a thicker, saltier sauce).
I liked the fact that KL-style “chee cheong fun” offers a selection of “yong tau fu” ingredients which customers can select to have with the steamed rice rolls - this is typical to KL and could not be found anywhere else in Malaysia or Singapore.
Address: Ah Choon’s mobile cart is located outside 71-73 Jalan Hujan Emas 8, Overseas Union Garden (Taman OUG), 58200 Kuala Lumpur - about 7.30am to 11am daily.
